I have to say that Clinique Take The Day Off is my absolute favorite and most frequently used cleansing product of the past year, 2021. I love both the Cleansing Balm and Makeup Remover versions. It’s incredibly effective and budget-friendly. I’ve completely forgotten about traditional face wash methods. Truth be told, I’ve been using it for a long time, and I’m almost done with the jar. Finally had the chance to write a review. Hope it’s not too late! Feel free to read along.

Cleansing Balm

Ingredients: Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sorbeth-30 Tetraoleate, Polyethylene, Peg-5 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Water\Aqua\Eau, Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol <ILN30654>. Clinique Cleansing Balm

To be honest, I’m not a fan of the whole face-cleansing routine. I find it quite tedious and time-consuming. I’d rather just jump into bed after brushing my teeth and taking a shower. In the past, I used cleansing water with cotton pads to quickly clean my face. It was convenient for travel, but sometimes I forgot to bring it, and that was a hassle.

However, after seeing many beauty bloggers rave about this cleansing balm, I decided to give it a try. In summary, I’ve been using it consistently. It’s efficient, thorough, and leaves my skin feeling clean. I might try a cleansing water for the sake of reviewing it, but for regular use, this cleansing balm is a staple in my routine.

Fragrance Free Cleansing Balm

The balm has a soft, creamy texture and is easily scooped out of the jar with your fingers. After a couple of uses, you’ll get a sense of how much you need for your face, as it varies depending on your makeup thickness and the size of your facial area. Warm the product slightly between your fingers (rubbing them together) before applying it to your face. Massage it in for about 30 seconds, and then rinse it off with clean water. It can be used on the lips and around the eyes without causing irritation. If you want to use a foaming or other cleansing product afterward, you can skip the final water rinse and proceed with that product. Importantly, make sure your face is dry before using the cleansing balm to avoid it turning into a milky cream on contact with water.

Balm Textures

I ordered it online in the 125ml size, and initially, I was a bit concerned when I saw the package—it looked large and seemed like it might be heavy. However, when I received it, it turned out to be quite sizable but not heavy at all. The packaging is a sturdy plastic jar, and I find it durable and robust. Personally, I think it’s great for home use. However, if the brand could offer it in a squeeze tube format, it would be more convenient, especially for travel. Hopefully, they’ll consider that in the future.

Makeup Remover for Lids, Lashes & Lips

Ingredients: Water\Aqua\Eau, Isododecane, Isohexadecane, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Peg-4 Dilaurate, Lauryl Methyl Gluceth-10 Hydroxypropyldimonium Chloride, Hexylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, Potassium Phosphate, Dipotassium Phosphate, Dipotassium Edta, Phenoxyethanol. Clinique Makeup Remover

The reason for purchasing an additional Makeup Remover is that the Clinique Cleansing Balm may not completely remove certain types of makeup. I use this product specifically for cleaning waterproof lipsticks or mascaras that are challenging to wash off. For example, it works well for stubborn products like Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink lipstick, which is known for its long-lasting formula.

Before using, it’s recommended to shake the product slightly because it contains both water and oil components that need to be mixed together. After that, you can pour it onto a cotton pad and wipe the areas you want to clean. It’s gentle enough to be used around the eyes without causing irritation or discomfort. Some brands can be harsh on the eyes, but Clinique’s product is excellent in this regard.

Two-Phase Makeup Remover

The conclusion is that both the Clinique Cleansing Balm and Makeup Remover should be used together for the most effective facial cleansing. The important thing is that there is no allergic reaction or irritation at all. These products are truly satisfying, and I recommend giving them a try. Although the price may be relatively high, they are long-lasting and definitely worth the money.
